Autonomous rockbreakers for primary crushing

Minoic Intelligence runs an autonomous crusher and rockbreaker cell at a quarry customer today. The rockbreaker detects and clears oversize and bridging at the primary, under remote supervision.

    The operational problem

Oversize arrives with the feed. A rock bridges the chamber, the feeder is throttled back, and the plant waits for someone to get to the rockbreaker and work the blockage clear.

That time is spread across the shift in short pieces, so it rarely shows up as one visible downtime event, and clearing it keeps pulling people to the crusher.

    What the cell does today

    • Detects oversize and bridging at the primary from camera coverage of the chamber
    • Moves the rockbreaker and works the material autonomously
    • Runs under remote supervision rather than from the machine itself
    • Deployed and running at a quarry customer today

    What remote supervision means

This is an autonomous rockbreaker with a person responsible for it, supervising remotely rather than operating the machine directly.

How supervision is set up at your site, what the rockbreaker is allowed to do, how it hands back to a person, what is recorded and how it interacts with the feeder and the crusher are worked out for your site and your equipment, with your engineering and safety people.

    Where the scope ends

Our current deployed scope is autonomous rockbreaking; coordinated control across the wider primary crushing circuit is future scope.

Feed control, screens, conveyors and the rest of the circuit stay with your own systems.

    How a site assessment works

    • The rockbreaker make, model, mounting and existing control interface
    • Camera positions that can see the chamber and the breaker reach
    • Your isolation, permit and safety rules for the crusher area
    • Who would supervise, from where, and on what network
    • How often oversize and bridging actually interrupt your primary today

    Questions we are usually asked

Is this monitoring or is the machine actually moving?
The rockbreaker moves. That is different from the monitoring pages on this site, where cameras produce timestamped events for people to review. They are distinct scopes.
Does it run without anyone watching?
No. It runs under remote supervision, with a person responsible for the cell. How that supervision works in practice is agreed for the site.
Will it work on our rockbreaker?
That is what a site assessment establishes. It depends on the machine, its control interface, the mounting position and whether the chamber can be viewed properly. We tell you when a site is not a fit.
Can you automate the whole primary plant?
Our current deployed scope is autonomous rockbreaking; coordinated control across the wider primary crushing circuit is future scope.
